GF Sargent

A member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects since 1999, George F. Sargent, Jr. has been credited with the design, construction or management of more than 20 courses in the New England area. His award-winning designs include credits from Golf Digest as Best New Private Course and Best New Affordable Public Course as well as acknowledgements from many local golf publications.

George received his degree from University of Massachusetts Stockbridge School of Agriculture and spent 8 years immersed in the golf industry as both a golf course superintendent and director of golf at some of New Hampshire’s finest resort country clubs. He has also owned and operated a golf course as well as a construction company specific to golf course irrigation systems.

George formed a partnership with Philip Wogan in 1991 and launched Wogan & Sargent, Inc., a golf course design company that is still known today for their remarkable work in the Northeast. Under the tutelage of Philip Wogan, George completed his studies and apprenticeship for a career as a golf course architect an became a member of the ASGCA in 1999.

Today George is an active member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects, as well as the New Hampshire Golf Course Superintendents Association and USGA. Although he spends most days at a golf course, these days George only has the opportunity to play twice a week, yet still proudly maintains a 7 handicap. When he has a moment away from his golf course design duties, he enjoys working outdoors in his private garden, fly fishing, kayaking and spending time with his family.
